Cars and Coffee: Ford GT

The Ford GT is an American Icon with an awesome history. The version we got in 2005 was, according to everyone but Jeremy Clarkson, one of the best American sports cars ever. Recently, guys like Doug DeMuro and Matt Farah have been really talking this car up, and for good reason.

With a 550hp 5.4L Supercharged V-8 mounted midship, and driving the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual gearbox, no traction control, no stability control, and no other driver aids other than ABS and Power Steering.

The new Ford GT is on another level from the 05 GT. 43 inches tall, full carbon-fiber Monocoque chassis, and more. This car was built as a homologation model enabling Ford to run the GT in LeMans.

The new GT ditches the 5.4L V-8 powerplant and 6-speed manual gearbox in favor of the new 3.5L twin-turbo Ecoboost V-6 and a 7-speed Getrag 7-speed Dual Clutch transmission.

This car is a legitimate race car toned down very slightly for use on the road.
