Car Spotlight: 1961 Pontiac Catalina Coupe Drag Car

One of the reasons I am really starting to like classic American Cars again is that there were so many different models with unique features. As I pointed out on thursday, some models, like the corvette, had design cues, badging and even, in some cases, engine and transmission combinations unique to that one model.

.

The Catalina was Pontiacs full-sized car from 1950 to 1981. Certainly one of my favorite features of the car is the crease in the center of the grille, as well as the raked back grille, with the overhanging cowling.

.

As you've seen from many of the other Drag-tuned cars I've featured on this site, the interior of this car indicates the purpose of the car.

.

The removable steering wheel, the form-fitting seats, the purely functional dashboard, and the exposed components are all there to be as accessible as possible.

.

Around the rear, the wheelie bar and parachute indicate a large power level. I'm not sure what engine is under the hood, the power levels or even quarter mile times. I do know that it sounds healthy.

.

That will do it for this post. Thanks for reading, and be sure to follow me here on blogger, and on my social media pages. Check back often for more content.
