Car Feature: 1971 Ford Maverick Grabber

This weekend saw the second Lansing Cars and Coffee event of the 2017 season. As usual, we had a wide range of cars make an appearance. Unlike normal, we filled the lot, and had to use some overflow space. As you pulled into the event from Okemos Rd, this was one of the first cars you saw.
This is a 1971 Ford Maverick Grabber.
Finished in Ford Grabber Blue, this car certainly stands out. After talking to the owner, it seems this car is largely original.
The 302 c.i.d. V-8 sits in the engine bay, as it did when new, leaving very little room to work under the hood.
At first glance, this car bears a bit of resemblance to the larger Mustang, as well as to it's counterpart, the Pinto.
Certain cues let you know that this isn't a mustang, but rather, the mustangs little brother. The Tail-lamps are a bit smaller and more subdued than those on the mustang.
A closer look shows the model-specific emblem. Still in the round trim ring, like the Mustang, the horse has been replaced with a Longhorn Steer head.
