"What's your dream car?"
Such a difficult question to answer. There are literally thousands of different car models out there, even more if you count those no longer in production. Vehicles to serve every purpose, be it carting the family around to soccer games, weekend Autocross duty, flat out track day, towing a horse trailer or just commuting to and from work. So, when I'm asked what my favorite car is, I often follow that up with "What kind of car? What will I use it for? Is it my only car? Where would I use it?" , which often confuses people. But honestly, it makes sense. Because, sure, I'd LOVE to own a Lamborghini Aventador LP-700-4, but it's not a reasonable daily driver, winter car or grocery getter. I'd LOVE to own a Range Rover Defender 110 4-door, but, due to it's less-than-stellar reliability, it also isn't the best daily. I'd like to own a Japanese-imported 2007 Subaru Forester STi, but that's not a reasonable choice, because it's not exactly legal to register here in the states.
When narrowed down, though, the question becomes a bit easier. Still difficult, though.
Daily driver? I'd have to choose between the likes of the Alfa Romeo Quadrofoglio, the Bentley Continental GT Supersport, the Porsche 911 Carrera 4S, the Panamera S, the Infinity Q60, and many, many more.
So, next time you ask a gearhead what his/her favorite car is, be more specific.
